applied to the screws used in attaching the IOX board to the processor board. Factory installed
screws are coated with a threadlocker where appropriate.
1. If you wish to install PMC devices on the IOX board, this must be done prior to attaching the
IOX to the host processor board (but after Step 6 below). For information about installing
PMCs, refer to
Chapter 5, "Installing Accessories."
2. Take the necessary precautions to protect the ZT 4901, ZT 5524, and any other devices you are
working with (such as PMCs) from static discharge.
3. Remove the protective cover from the solder side of the host processor board. Lay the
processor board, solder-side down, on a flat surface.
4. Insert one ganging pin into the appropriate hole in each of the processor board's ejectors and
press the pins in until they seat. Approximately half of each pin should still be exposed.
5. If the standoffs are not attached to the board, remove any screws that may be in the standoffs.
If the standoffs are attached to your IOX board, remove any screws that may be in the
processor-board-side of the standoffs and skip Step-6.
6. Attach the five standoffs to the appropriate holes on the IOX board using the five panhead
screws. Screws should be tightened to 2 to 4 inch-pounds. This step must be done prior to
attaching accessory devices (such as PMCs) to the board.
7. Lay the IOX board on top of the processor board so that the board-to-board connector and the
ejector ganging pins are in alignment.
8. Press the boards together until the board-to-board connector completely engages. The boards
should fit together smoothly, do not force them. After the board-to-board connector is properly
seated, check that the standoffs are flush with the appropriate holes on the processor board and
that the ejector handles are flush with one another.
9. Fasten the processor board to the standoffs using the five countersunk screws (mounting
holes on the processor board are countersunk). To ensure proper alignment and avoid warping
either board, thread and seat all of the screws before final tightening. Screws should be
tightened to 2 to 4 inch-pounds.
10. Reattach the solder-side cover to the processor board.

Removing the IOX Board from the Processor Board

The following instructions cover the mechanical aspects of removing a ZT 4901 IOX Board from a
ZT 5524 Processor Board. Refer to
exploded view of the parts involved in this operation.
The IOX board must be removed from the host processor board to add or change an accessory
(such as a PMC device). For information about installing PMCs, refer to
Accessories."
