Fastening a Top Tether
& WARNING Risk of injury or death if the
rear seat backrests are not locked after
Top Tether belts are fitted
The rear seat backrests may fold forwards
when you are driving.
As a result, child restraint systems will no lon-
ger be able to perform their intended protec-
tive function. This may also cause additional
injuries.
Always lock rear seat backrests after fit-
#
ting Top Tether belts.
Observe the lock verification indicator.

If the rear seat backrest is not engaged and
locked in place, the red lock verification indicator
will be visible.
¯ If the child restraint system is equipped
with a Top Tether belt:
The risk of injury may be reduced by Top
Tether. The Top Tether belt enables an
additional connection between the child
restraint system attached with ISOFIX or
i‑Size and the vehicle.
The Top Tether anchorages for the second row of
seats are located on the rear side of the two outer
rear seats on the second row of seats. For the
third row of seats, use the Top Tether anchorage
on the rear side of the seat backrest on the third
row of seats.

Fit the ISOFIX or i‑Size child restraint system

with Top Tether. In doing so, comply with the
child restraint system manufacturer's installa-
tion instructions.
