– Release locking pawl -4- on hinge -2- -arrow b-.
– Carefully press down bonnet -1- -arrows a- so that locking
pawl -4- can no longer engage.
– Only then release locking pawl, and pull out screwdriver.
– Carefully push down bonnet further -arrows a- until arrester
engages on shoulder.
Once the hinges have been returned to the default position on a
vehicle with triggered pedestrian protection system, the following
components must be replaced:
♦ Trigger 1 for pedestrian protection - G598-
♦ Trigger 2 for pedestrian protection - G599-

1.4.2 Resetting opened bonnet with triggered
active hinges for pedestrian protection
system
Note
Triggered hinges -2- can be identified by the bonnet being

raised at the rear. There is also a gap at the wings.
When the bonnet is opened with triggered hinges, there won't
♦
be any damage to surrounding components.
The following measures must always be performed at the
♦
same time on both sides.
