Turn the unit off and then on when "POWER DOWN PLEASE!" is displayed on the LCD panel.

Connecting the Unit to a Computer
For Windows:

Connect the unit and computer using an eSATA cable.

The hard drive icon will be displayed.

Format the drive referring the "Format (Initialization)" section in chapter 7.
For Mac:

Connect the unit and the Mac using an eSATA cable.

Press the power button on the front of the unit to turn it on.

The
icon will be displayed on the Desktop.
If the icon is not displayed, verify if the unit is added to the sidebar in Finder.

Turning the Unit Off

If the unit is on, dismount the unit from the computer by the following instructions and turn the unit off.
If the unit is off, the unit has been dismounted already. You can unplug it safely.
Notes:
• If you unplug the unit without the instructions, the unit may be damaged.
• To unplug the cable, do not pull the cable, hold the end terminal instead.
For Windows:

Follow the on-screen instructions to dismount.

Press the power button on the front of the unit to turn it off.
For Mac:

Drag the unit's icon to the trash.
If the unit's icon is not displayed on the Desktop, click the icon in the sidebar of Finder.

Unplug the unit.
