– Calculate the correct amount of chemical solution so
that it is used up completely, with no extra solution
left in the container after finishing work.
■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from improper
dilution:
– Read the chemical product label and calculate the
proper dilution before starting to fill the container.
Measure carefully. When filled to the maximum
mark, the container holds 17 l (4.5 US gal.).
■ To reduce the risk of fire and explosion:
– Never fill the container with flammable or
combustible materials, which can explode under
pressure.
■ To reduce the risk of chemical leakage:
– Never fill the container with caustic or corrosive
materials.
■ To reduce the risk injury from exposure to scalding liquids
temperatures:
– Never fill the container with liquids having a
temperature above 40 °C (104 °F).
– Never leave the sprayer in direct sunlight or near any
heat source.
5.7.2
Before Spraying
WARNING
■ To reduce the risk of personal injury from leakage:
– Inspect your sprayer before and after each use.
Make sure the tank is sealed properly and not
leaking. Check the cap and all connections to ensure
they are tight. Make sure the hose is securely
attached and in good condition before pressurizing
the container.
– Never attempt to pressurize the unit by any method
other than with the integrated pump module.

5 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
■ Misuse or unauthorized use may result in personal injury
and property damage.
– Use the sprayer only as described in this instruction
manual.
■ Using a sprayer that is modified, damaged, improperly
adjusted or maintained, or not completely and securely
assembled can lead to a malfunction and increase the risk
of serious personal injury or death.
– Never operate a sprayer that is modified, damaged,
improperly maintained or not completely and
securely assembled.
– Always check your sprayer for proper condition and
operation before starting work, particularly the tank,
cap, hose and all seals.
– Ensure that the trigger switch and retaining latch
move freely. The trigger switch must not engage
until the retaining latch is moved to the unlocked
position.
– Never attempt to modify or override the controls or
safety devices in any way.
– If your sprayer or any part is damaged or does not
function properly, take it to your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer. Do not use the sprayer until the
problem has been corrected.
■ Exposing the battery to chemical agents increases the risk
of short circuit, fire and explosion.
– Never operate the sprayer without the battery
compartment cover properly secured in place.
– If the battery compartment cover is missing, worn or
damaged, replace it before filling the container or
spraying any type of solution.
■ Before inserting the battery:
– Check the electrical contacts in the battery
compartment for corrosion or other foreign matter.
Keep clean.
– Never insert or use a malfunctioning, damaged,
cracked, leaking or deformed battery.
– Read and follow the instructions on switching on the
sprayer, @ 14.1.
