AUTO THROTTLE SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
Purpose
The adjustment procedures give instructions for adjusting the auto throttle system. The test
procedures are used to verify that the auto throttle system is functioning properly and performs its
intended function in all available modes without interfering with the operation of other aircraft
systems.
NOTE: The following adjustment and test procedures require qualified operators using approved
aircraft operational procedures.
Equipment and Facilities Required
(1) Equipment
• Vendor supplied rig pin
• Special tools per Safe Flight Repair Procedure, R2830
• Force Gauge, 8 to 10 ft-lb
• Pitot-static Test Set capable of simulating airspeeds to 350 knots and altitudes to
45,000 feet
• Communications Cable, Safe Flight P/N SK103379 or SK102930
• IBM-compatible Personal Computer (PC), 386 or higher, DOS 5.0 or higher, VGA
or Hercules graphics adapter
• 3.5" Diskette of PC Maintenance Software, Safe Flight P/N 1613-1509
• N1 Transducer Simulator
• N2 Transducer Simulator
• GSE 71-00-32 Power Plant Rigging Kit

Prior to proceeding with adjustment of the auto throttle system, obtain the required tolerances for
throttle split and throttle cushion at maximum power, idle, and shutoff.
Fuel Control Cable Adjustment
NOTE: This procedure assumes the fuel control cable(s) and control rod(s) are disconnected at
the ATS bell crank and throttle levers, respectively.
