Mode 4: Mutually Exclusive Relay Sets - AMX SX16+ Instruction And Programming Manual

One or more 'Sets' of relays in an SX Series Control
system may be programmed to operate exclusively
of one another. This program is normally used with
relays set to the 'Latching' mode. (See Mode #1)
For example: If three relays, numbered 1, 2, and 3
are programmed to be mutually exclusive of each
other, only one of the three may operate at any one
time. If relay #1 is latched and relay #2 is
commanded to operate, relay #1 will automatically
de-latch. Activating relay #3 will likewise de-latch
#2.
This feature is useful for operating equipment which
must NEVER see opposing commands like 'Up' and
'Down' on an electric screen or multiple input
selection on a video switcher.
When any SX16+ in the system is placed in this
mode, ALL SX16+ Relay Controllers will be in Mode
4 and they may be programmed at the same time. If
an exit mode is selected from ANY SX16+ in the
system, All SX16+s will exit the same; with or
without changes.
The exception to this is the All Clear command.
This only clears the SX16+ the command is given
from. All other SX16+ exit with changes, if any were
made.
All SX16+ Controllers in the system may be
programmed to interact with each other using
mutually exclusive sets. In other words, relay #16
on SX16+ #1 could be made to be mutually
exclusive with relay #1 on SX16+ #2.
Up to eight different sets of mutually exclusive sets
may be programmed in each SX16+. These sets
may also overlap each other.

Program Mode 4
Mutually Exclusive Relay Sets
By entering Mode 4 again before exiting (pressing
buttons 15, 16, and 4) the first set will automatically
be stored and the second set will appear. The
second set may now be created (or modified if
already there).
After creating or changing all the mutually exclusive
sets, the mode may be exited in the usual way and
the relays will respond to the new settings.
If Changes are desired
Press Buttons 15, 16 and 13 Simultaneously
If just checking status -
Press Buttons 15, 16 and 14 Simultaneously
Note: Due to the unlimited possibilities when
programming many mutually exclusive relays sets
(along with other program modes), there may be a
chance of asking the relays to do something
physically or electrically impossible.
When this occurs, the program will be accepted but
the relays will not operate as programmed. Usually
they will simply not activate and the individual sets
will have to be edited or corrected.
Remember, when entering Mode 4 initially, the first
programmed set will appear. The individual sets
can be 'scrolled through' each time the Mode 4
'Enter' buttons (15, 16, 4) are pushed. Each set
may be edited as it appears on the front panel.
If desired, all sets of mutually exclusive relays
within one SX16+ may be 'Cleared' at once by
using the 'ALL CLEAR' Mode (15, 16 and 12).
This All Clear has no effect on all other SX16+s in
the System other than to bring them out of all
program Mode With Changes.
