For the fourth speed
The
M 3
gear on the main shaft is, by operation
of the shift fork in shifting, dowel connected with
the free
M 4
gear and drive is transmitted from the
main shaft through
M 3
and
M 4
gears to the coupled
countershaft (C 4 gear omitted).

Disassembly
l.
Following the same order as for the crankshaft
(Refer to Section 3. l l ), separate the upper and
the lower crankcase and remove the transmission
unit. (Refer to Fig. 118)
II.
Inspection
l.
Measurement of clearance in the axial and radial
directions for
the transmission
main
shaft and
countershaft bearing. (Refer to Fig. 3. 119)
