The "source" curve in Fig. 6-6 shows the pulses to be counted. The "gate"
curve represents the gate signal.
The count is activated on transmission of the command for frequency
measurement. When the count is actually made depends on the
parameters selected and on the gate signal.
The command for the event count comprises the command code and
various parameters. The parameters set the conditions for the event
count.

Assign 0 to the non-used bits 9 and 8!
Note:
Observe the default counter direction in bit 3! If Bit
3 = 0, then the counter counts down! If you start the event
count at 1400
The measurement begins immediately after issuing the command.
