When working with the counter terminal, you must observe a specific
order when issuing commands.
Step 1: System Settings
This step is optional. If you do not need to make any system settings then
you can immediately jump to step 2.
If you want to make some system settings and you want to set a start
and/or end value, then you must enter these values in the first step.
Step 2: Operating Mode
After you have made the system settings, or if no settings were required,
you then set the operating mode.
The following modes can be set:
• Frequency measurement
• Event Counting
• Time measurement
• Pulse generator
Step 3: Reading the counter
If you want to receive the results of the counter terminal in the input words
then you must now issue the command for reading the counter (counter).
This step is optional. If you do not need the input data then you do not
need to read out the contents of the counter. You could, e.g. control the
output directly via the terminal according tot he comparative conditions
without having to access the input data.
The command for the frequency measurement comprises the command
code and one parameter. The parameter sets the conditions for the
frequency measurement.

The second output word is not used.
Note:
The frequency measurement begins immediately after issuing
the command.
