Maximum cable length of the connecting cables
The readers (RS232) connected to the communication module can be operated with a
maximum cable length of 50 m. In some situations, longer connecting cables up to 1000 m
are possible for connection via RS422. Please note that a transfer speed of 115.2 Kbaud can
only be guaranteed for a max. cable length of 700 m and a transmission speed of 921.6
Kbaud only for a max. cable length of 100 m. The current consumption of the connected
reader must, however, be taken into account. You will find further information in the
relevant system manuals.
Joining more than two cables to form a long cable should be avoided due to the additional
contact resistances.
Requirements for cables and connectors
You need cables of the following specifications for a custom assembled cable:
• 6 x 0.25 mm
• L-YC11Y 6 x 1 x 0.25
50 m: 6GT2090-4AN50
120 m: 6GT2090-4AT12
800 m: 6GT2090-4AT80
You can use the following connectors:
• CM-sided: M12/8-pin, male
6GT2090-0BE00
• Reader-sided: M12/8-pin, female
6GT2090-0BD00
