Step 3
• Mark a series of two points P1- P2 separately on the lines drawn in step 2, in line with the
vertical transducer distance P for each path:
- The distance P for the upper and lower path is always the same
- The distance P for the middle path is always equal to the internal pipe diameter

INFORMATION!
The arrow marks the flow direction.

2.16.4 Marking the transducer positions on the pipe

INFORMATION!
At larger pipes (D > 1000 mm) the paper may not be wide enough to cover the distance P. In this
case use the paper to make the P1 markings on either side of the pipe (left and right). Transfer
the distance P to the P2 positions using a spirit level.
INFORMATION!
It is possible to mark the transducer positions directly onto the pipe without drawing on paper. In
that case please use the same calculation to make the P1 and P2 marks necessary. Notice that
using this method, the determination of the position of each transducer from the top line is
maybe less accurate.
Step 1
• Make sure the pipe surface is clean
• Remove dirt, rust or oil on the pipe surface
• Find the top of pipe-line by using a spirit level
• Mark 6-8 points in the same way, to find the top line accurately as indicated below.
