8–1 INTRODUCTION
The following paragraphs describe the two software diagnostics programs used to localize fault areas on pc boards in
card slots A3 through A6. These cards are the A3 MST board, A4 Scan Converter Controller, A5 Frame Memory, and
A6 VDO board.
8–2 SERVICE SOFTWARE
There are two service software operating modes: SS (Service Software Program) and SDP (Service Diagnostics
Program). The SDP program tests MST CPU memory ICs on the MST Board. The SS Program tests memory ICs on
the other digital pc boards.
8–3 THE SERVICE SOFTWARE (SS) PROGRAM
8–3–1 Entering Service Software Program
Press <CONTROL> S [<SHIFT> and! ] <ENTER> on the keyboard to enter the service software program. In
response, SERVICE will appear on the second line of the USER NAME area. Now the Service Software routines can
be accessed by means of keyboard entries.
Throughout this section, the < and > marks around a key function mean press the key marked with
that function, do not type it out. For example, <CONTROL> and <ENTER> are keys named
CONTROL and ENTER, which you should press.
8–3–2 Leaving Service Software Program
To return to normal operating mode from service software, type <CONTROL> S Z <ENTER>. This resets and restarts
the system similar to system initialization during power up.
8–3–3 Stopping Looping Service Software Routines
Step once on the footswitch to stop continuously looping routines.
Stepping on the footswitch will no longer freeze or melt the display in the SS or SDP modes.
