Installing the shift rod, drive shaft, and
oil seal housing
1. Install:
• O-ring "1" (to the plate)
• Oil seal "2" (to the plate)
• E-clip "3"
• Plate "4"
• O-ring "5" New
• Shift rod "6"
2. Install:
• Shift cam "1"
• Shift rod "2"

3. Install:
• Forward gear assembly
4. Install:
• Drive shaft assembly "1"
• Pinion "2"
• Pinion nut "3"
TIP:
When installing the pinion "2", lift up the drive
shaft "1" slightly, and then align the pinion
splines with the shaft splines.

5. Tighten:
• Pinion nut "1"

74 N·m (7.4 kgf·m, 55 lb·ft)
6. Check:
• Drive shaft movement
Not smooth  Repeat from step 1.
