2. Remove:
• Oil filter union bolt "1"

Checking the exhaust cover anode

1. Check:
• Anode
Eroded (1/2 or more)  Replace.
There is grease, oil, or scales.  Clean.
Do not apply grease, oil, or paint to the an-
odes.

Checking the thermostat

1. Check:
• Thermostat valve opening at the specified
water temperatures
Out of specification  Replace.

a. Suspend the thermostat in a container of
water.
b. Place a thermo meter in the water, and
then heat the water slowly.
c. Measure the thermostat valve opening "a"

Installing the oil filter

1. Install:
• Union bolt "1"

at the specified water temperatures.
