1.4 Server Chassis Features

Control Panel

There are two buttons located on the front of the chassis: a power on/off button and a reset
button. In addition there are five LEDs. The locations of these buttons and LEDs on the control
panel are described below. See Chapter 4 for details on the control panel connections.

Control Panel Features
Description
The main power switch applies or removes primary power from the power supply to
the server but maintains standby power. To perform most maintenance tasks, unplug
the system to remove all power.
The hardware reset button is used to reboot the system, if needed, without powering
off the system.
Indicates power is being supplied to the system power supply units. This LED is
illuminated when the system is operating normally.
Indicates activity on the storage drive when flashing.
Indicates network activity on the LAN when flashing.
Indicates network activity on the LAN when flashing.
Alerts operator to several states, as noted in the table below.
Universal Information LED
Description
An overheat condition has occurred. (This may be caused by cable congestion.)
Fan failure: check for an inoperative fan.
Power failure: check for an inoperative power supply.
UID has been activated locally to locate the server in a rack environment.
UID has been activated using IPMI to locate the server in a rack environment.
