Network integration

6.2 Configuring a communication connection

Procedure: Integration via a NAT router
You can find a detailed description of the integration of the CB Gate components via a NAT
router at the following link:
Configuring NAT routers (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109809549)
Procedure: Addressing and integration via STEP 7 (TIA Portal)
With the TIA Portal, you can easily change the addresses of the CB Gate components and
adapt them to the address range of your higher-level system. To do this, you first need to
assign a new IP address and subnet mask to the Panel. To do this, close the user interface of
the Panel and open the "Settings > Network and Dial-up Connections" menu in the "Start
Center".
Follow these steps to change the addresses of the CB Gate components:
1. Download the "SIMATIC_Ident_CB_Gate_xRP_HMI_Vxxxx_xx" project.
You can find the project on the pages of the Siemens Industry Online Support
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/ps/15081/dl).
2. Open the project suitable for your CB Gate with the TIA Portal.
3. Change the IP addresses and subnet masks of the CB Gatecomponents controller, Panel and
reader ("Properties > General > PROFINET interface").
4. If appropriate, enable the "Use router" function and enter the IP address of the router.
5. Then transfer the changed project into the controller and the Panel ("Download to device").
6.2
Configuring a communication connection
The SIMATIC Ident CB Gate can communicate with a higher-level system via the following
communication options:
• Communication via the TCP server
• Communication via the S7 controller
Data exchange with the higher-level system takes place via the data block "MCSInterface" that
is already implemented in the S7 controller (TCP server) of the gate. With an active
connection, the CB Gate makes the current read result, information on the current state of
the gate, and statistics available. Furthermore, the client can control functions of the gate
(e.g. enable and disable gate, reset, delete statistics).
Communication via the TCP server
The TCP server is disabled the first time the gate is switched on. You need to enable the TCP
connection in the user interface of the Panel ("TCP server > Enable TCP server") so that the CB
Gate can communicate with a higher-level system. Note that it is only possible to change the
port if the TCP server is disabled.
