Connecting
5.1 Connecting the system components
Procedure: Connecting antennas
Follow these steps to connect the antennas to the reader:
1. Connect the top-left antenna (see also graphic in section "Mounting (Page 21)") to the
antenna connector "ANT1" of the reader using the antenna connection cable (3 m).
2. Connect the top-right antenna to the antenna connector "ANT2" of the reader using the
antenna connection cable (5 m).
3. If necessary, connect the bottom-left antenna to the antenna connector "ANT3" of the
reader using the antenna connection cable (3 m).
4. If necessary, connect the bottom-right antenna to the antenna connector "ANT4" of the
reader using the antenna connection cable (5 m).
5. Secure the antenna connection cable with the cable ties pre-mounted on the mounting rails.
Observe the minimum permissible bending radius of 51 mm, which must not be
undershot.
Make sure that the antenna connection cable is secured in such a way that there is still
sufficient play if the antennas are adjusted later and there is no strain on the antenna
connectors.
Power supply connection and other connections
Finally, you need to connect the power supply unit of the CB Gate to an external power
supply (safety plug ⇒ socket).
If you want to integrate the CB Gate into a higher-level system, you need to connect the
switch to a higher-level system (e.g. a controller or a PC) with an Ethernet cable or to a switch
integrated in the system. To integrate the CB Gate into your existing switch, connection via a
SCALANCE S is recommended.
You can find detailed information on creating a cell protection concept based on a SCALANCE
S at the following link:
