Cleaning the air cleaner
NOTICE:
When working under extremely dusty
conditions, clean the filter several times a day.
Dirty elements reduce engine power and make the
engine difficult to start.
NOTICE:
Remove oil on the elements. The oil on
the air cleaner may come outside.
NOTICE:
Do not put the elements on the ground
or in a dirty location. The elements can pick up dirt
or debris that can damage the engine.
NOTICE:
Never use fuel to clean the elements.
Doing so will damage the parts.
Interval for cleaning and inspection: Daily (every 10
operating hours)

To clean the air cleaner, perform the following
procedures.
1.
Turn the choke lever fully to the closed position to
keep the carburetor free from dust or dirt.
2.
Loosen the knob bolt and remove the air cleaner
cover.
3.
Remove the elements and remove dirt on them by
tapping.
If the elements are heavily contaminated, soak them in
warm water or in a water-diluted neutral detergent. Do
not squeeze or rub the elements when washing.
After washing the elements, dry them completely.
Otherwise it will be difficult to start the engine.
4.
Wipe out any oil adhering around the air cleaner
cover and the air cleaner plate using a cloth.
5.
Fit the element(sponge) into the inside of the air
cleaner cover, and the element(felt) into the air cleaner
plate.
6.
Mount the air cleaner cover and tighten the knob
bolt.
Checking the spark plug
CAUTION:
the spark plug cover. Touching the plug cap while
the engine is running can cause an electrical shock.

ularly. If the spark plug cord is damaged or torn,
replace it. Not doing so may cause an electrical
shock.
NOTICE:
When removing the spark plug, clean
the spark plug and cylinder head first, so that no
dirt, sand, etc., will enter the cylinder.
NOTICE:
Remove the spark plug after the
engine has cooled down in order to avoid damag-
ing the threaded hole in the cylinder.
NOTICE:
Always use the supplied box wrench
to remove or to install the spark plug.
NOTICE:
Install the spark plug properly into the
threaded hole. If installed at an angle, the threaded
hole in the cylinder will be damaged.

Interval for cleaning and inspection: Weekly
To check the spark plug, perform the following
procedures.
1.
Open the spark plug cover and remove the plug
cap.
