Memory Cards can be installed in the CPU Unit to store programs and other data
as file memory. In a duplex system, the left and right CPU Units must have
Memory Cards with the same capacity.
The CVM1D does not support Memory Card instructions, but the program and
other data can be transferred from the Memory Card to the CPU Unit automati-
cally at start-up. (This function is enabled with pin 5 of the CPU DIP Switch.)
The following table shows the Memory Cards that are available.

Note
1. Batteries should be replaced before the end of their life expectancy. Refer to
the CVM1D Installation Guide for details on battery replacement.
2. Cannot be used without a CV500-MCWjj Memory Card Writer.
The SSS can be used to write data to RAM and EEPROM Cards, but a
CV500-MCWjj Memory Card Writer must be used to write data to EPROM
Memory Cards.
The following commercially available memory cards can be used. The proce-
dures and applications for using these memory cards is exactly the same as for
the Memory Cards provided by OMRON.
• RAM Memory Cards conforming to JEIDA4.0 and of the following sizes:
64 Kbytes, 128 Kbytes, 256 Kbytes, 512 Kbytes, 1 Mbyte, and 2 Mbytes.
Note The 2-Mbyte Memory Cards cannot be used in the CV500-MCW01 Memory
Card Writer.
Memory Cards must be formatted before use. RAM and EEPROM Cards can be
formatted with the SSS or the CV500-MCWjj Memory Card Writer; EPROM
Memory Cards can be formatted with the CV500-MCWjj Memory Card Writer
only.
Memory Cards can be damaged by twisting, shock, or exposure to high temper-
ature, humidity, or direct sunlight. Handle them with care.
Mount a Memory Card to the CPU using the following procedure.
1. Open the cover of the Memory Card compartment.
2. If the Memory Card is RAM or EEPROM, set the write-protect switch to OFF
so that data can be written to the Card.
3. Insert the Memory Card into its compartment. In doing so, a slight resistance
will be felt as the connector on the Memory Card mates with the connector
on the CPU. Continue pushing until the Memory Card is inserted completely
into the CPU. If the Memory Card power switch is ON, the Memory Card indi-
cator will light.
