The LAN Activity Light

The LAN Activity Light
The HP Ethernet Family Adapter provides two lights to indicate status.
The LAN Activity Light is on the front panel of some HP PCs. It is used to indicate
when the PC is accessing the LAN and is occasionally referred to as a "Virtual Hard
Disk Activity Light".
NOTE
To program this light signal, the line
was added in all the configuration
LED2=0x90h
files on your LAN disk (for example NET.CFG and PROTOCOL.INI). If you change
or remove this line, the LAN Activity Light will stop working.
A second kind of light is found on the back panel of your PC, one beside each of the
UTP connectors. This light indicates the link status and it is lit when there is a valid
connection from the interface to a hub port.
