14.2 Locking the Cutter For Transport

Center Section
Before raising wings for transport make sure the
center section is raised and locked for transport.
Start by raising cutter from ground. Shut off tractor,
set parking brake and disengage PTO. Get off
tractor and set center section transport lock to the
cutter as detailed in Figure Ops-1494.
Transport lock pins are provided for the center
phasing and wing lift hydraulic cylinders. When
these pins are inserted in their respective holes,
they prevent the wings or center frame from
dropping due to a hydraulic cylinder or hose failure.
FULLY extend the phasing cylinders until the
transport lock up hole in the center lock bar and the
slot in the receiver line up. REMOVE the transport
pin (red pin) from the storage location (B) and
MOVE IT to the transport location (A). Fasten it
with the lynch pin.
Wing Section
Return to tractor cab and start to raise wings. The
outside wings will rise simultaneously until resting
against the inner wings. Before raising inner wings
retract the phasing circuit half ways. This will help
the outer most tires from hitting each other at the
top. Then the inner wings will rise simultaneously
until holes on inner wings and center section line
up. Shut off tractor, set parking brake. Then get off
tractor and engage wing transport locks as detailed
in Image Ops-631.
After the transport lock pin is inserted, retract the
winglift circuit until outer wings are resting against
inner wings. Retracting the phasing system half
way so the weight of the center section is resting on
the transport lock.
