154 Driving and parking
Starting the vehicle (Remote Online)
& WARNING Risk of crushing or entrap‐
ment due to unintentional starting of the
engine
Limbs could be crushed or trapped if the
engine is started unintentionally during
service or maintenance work.
Always secure the engine against unin‐
#
tentional starting before carrying out
maintenance or repair work.
Requirements:
Park position j is selected.
R
The anti-theft alarm system is not activated.
R
The panic alarm is not activated.
R
The hazard warning light system is switched
R
off.
The bonnet is closed.
R
The doors are closed and locked.
R
The windows and sliding sunroof are closed.
R
Start the vehicle using the smartphone.

After every engine start, the engine runs for
ten minutes.
You can carry out a maximum of two consecu‐
tive starting attempts. You must start the engine
with the key before trying to start the engine
again with the smartphone.
You can switch off the engine at any time as fol‐
lows:

Securing the engine against starting before
carrying out maintenance or repair work:
Switch on the hazard warning light system.

Unlock the doors.

Open a side window or the sliding sunroof.

Running-in notes
To preserve the engine during the first 1,500 km:
drive at varying road speeds and engine
R
speeds
do not drive at speeds greater than
R
140 km/h.
allow the engine to reach a maximum engine
R
speed of 4,500 rpm only briefly
drive the vehicle in drive program A
R
change gear before the rev counter needle is
R
Ô of the way to the red area of the rev coun‐
ter
do not shift down manually in order to brake
R
avoid overstraining the vehicle, e.g. driving at
R
full throttle
do not depress the accelerator pedal past
R
the pressure point (kickdown)
only increase the engine speed gradually and
R
accelerate the vehicle to full speed after
1,500 km
This also applies when the engine or parts of the
drivetrain have been replaced.
