A wired network connection can only be used when the pivot point is located close to the network router or switch.
Most CAT5 and CAT6 cables have a limit of 100m, thus limiting the distance from pivot point to base at less than
100m.
A POE adapter is not required for wired networks. The ethernet cable plugs into the RJ45 connectors ont eh VRI
control panel PC and router/switch.
Remote irrigation systems that cannot be connected to a wireless or wired network can be connected to a network
by using a GSM module installed inside the main operating panel. Each GSM module requires a SIMM card (not
supplied) and will have associated data transfer costs.
Lindsay-NZ currently supplies the NetComm NTC-6200® series modems. These come supplied with an external
mounted antenna, power cable and 1m ethernet cable.
NOTE: Network coverage at the pivot should be confirmed before ordering a GSM unit.
1. Install the modem inside the Main Operating Panel.
Install the external antenna on the pivot structure within close proximity to the main panel and still provides
the best reception. Field installation for mounting the antenna will be required.
Connect the antenna cable to the antenna port labeled "Main" on the side of the modem.
Insert the SIMM card into the SIMM card slot on the modem. Follow the set up procedures according to
the communication provider's instructions. Account set up and payment plans will be initiated at this time.
