GPS Installation
The end node (at the farthest end of the system) will have a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and a GPS
interface board (Tornado board) that must be plugged into the programming port on the Printed Circuit Board
(PCB). The GPS antenna plugs into the Tornado board as shown below.
It is important that all power and valve wires be kept low and as far away from the antenna wiring as much as pos-
sible to prevent interference with the antenna.
Excess GPS antenna cable must not be left inside the node box. Tie excess antenna cable to the node panel sup-
port bracket.
Each node circuit board has a set of DIP switches. Switches 1 through 4 set the radio communication channel.
Every set of DIP switches in a single system must be set the same. Other nearby pivot systems equipped with VRI
control should be set to a different channel to eliminate any cross-talk between the two pivots.
Flip the DIP switch down for deactivation of a channel and flip the switch up to activate the channel.
The DIP switch marked "GPS" is for enabling nodes with GPS connected. Enable GPS by activating the GPS DIP
switch only on the node with GPS. Make sure all other nodes in the system have the GPS DIP switch deactivated.
DIP switches are set at the factory but must be verified during installation.
Before closing the door on the node panel box, ensure:
• The circuit board is securely fastened to the standoffs.
• Use cable ties to fasten all wires close to the bottom of the node enclosure to prevent electrical interference
with the node antenna and antenna wiring.
