tile, extension of the renewal period to 24 months is permitted. The tile must be calibrated at both angles
when it is to be used with dual angle gauges.
11.2 Gauge
CLEANING
The Elcometer 406 should always be checked to ensure that the metal base is clean. Care must be taken
to ensure that the base remains free of any damage. The optical cavities and lenses must also be free of
dust or any other contamination.
LOW BATTERY
When the battery voltage falls below the required level to operate the gauge, the display will briefly show a
warning message, see below, and then switch itself off.

New alkaline batteries must be fitted to restore operation.
Note: Alkaline batteries must be disposed of carefully to avoid environmental contamination. Please consult
your local Environmental Authority for information on disposal in your region.
Do not dispose of any batteries in fire.
