Technical terminology

Automatic shut-down
To save battery life, the unit switches off auto‐
matically if it is not operated for 1 hour.
'cal'
Key to access calibration.
Calibration
Adjustment of the conductivity measuring unit
to the cell constant of the sensor used.
Calibration solution
Solution with a precisely defined conductivity
value to calibrate a conductivity measuring unit.
Evaporation residue
See TDS.
GLP
Good Laboratory Practice: Rules and regula‐
tions governing the performance and documen‐
tation of measurements in laboratories.
'meas'
This key facilitates a return to measuring mode
from all other levels. In
'meas' is used to display the set tem‐
mode,
perature compensation, and the TDS factor in
TDS mode.

Technical terminology
nLF
Non-linear temperature compensation for ultra-
pure water with traces of NaCI and for natural
water according to EN 27888 (DIN 38404.8),
reference temperature = 25 °C.
Salinity
The salinity is an indication of the salt content,
especially of sea water as a total parameter. It
is stated in g/kg (‰).
Set-up time
Time from the start of a calibration step to the
stabilisation of the sensor voltage.
TDS
Total Dissolved SolidsThis corresponds to the
concentration of the dissolved substances that
contribute to the conductivity, comparable to
the evaporation residue.
