COOLING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

COOLING SYSTEM OVERVIEW

The coolant supplied in the system at the factory is a 50/
50 mixture of ethylene-glycol and distilled water, which
will provide adequate freeze protection under most
conditions.
NOTICE
Polaris 50/50 Extended-Life Antifreeze provides freeze
protection to -34 °F (-37 °C). If the snowmobile stored in
temperatures below the specified freeze temperature
for an extended period of time, additional ethylene-
glycol should be added to raise the ratio to 60/40.
Polaris recommends the use of Polaris Extended Life
Antifreeze 50/50 Premix. This antifreeze is already
premixed and ready to use. Do not dilute with water.
50/50 Extended-Life Engine Antifreeze:
1 Quart: 2880514
1 Gallon: 2880513
55 Gallon Drum: 2880512
IMPORTANT
Never add tap water to the cooling system. Minerals
cause deposits and may react adversely with the
metals in the engine and cooling system.

COOLANT BOTTLE LEVEL CHECK

Cooing system under pressure. Steam and hot liquids
will cause burns to your skin. Never bleed the cooling
system or remove the pressure cap when the engine is
warm or hot. Wear eye protection when servicing the
cooling system.
The engine coolant level is controlled by the recovery
system. The recovery system components are:
• Coolant Reservoir
• Pressure Cap - 13 psi (0.9 bar)
• Hoses
• In-bottle Thermostat

on the coolant bottle (when the
engine is cold).
NOTICE
Image for reference only.
1. Stop the engine. If the engine has been running,
allow it to cool completely prior to checking coolant
level.
2. Open the right side engine compartment panel.
3. View the coolant level in the reservoir/bottle.
4. Slowly remove the bottle cap
level at or slightly above the FULL COLD mark on the
bottle.
IMPORTANT
Operating the snowmobile with insufficient coolant will
result in overheating and serious engine damage.
Always maintain the coolant level as recommended.
