– Unscrew bolts -arrows- for connector rail.
– Release connectors for ignition coils -6-, -7-, -8-, -9- and -10-
and unplug all connectors from ignition coils at the same time.
– Place connector rail slightly to one side. Make sure that wiring
is not kinked or damaged.
– Position puller - T40039- on thick rib at top of ignition coils and
detach all ignition coils from spark plugs one after the other in
direction of -arrow-.
– Unscrew spark plugs using spark plug socket and extension -
VAS 3122B- .
Step 3 - installing spark plugs:
– Install new spark plugs using spark plug socket and extension
- VAS 3122B- and tighten to specified torque (table
⇒ page 55
).
– Fit all ignition coils loosely into spark plug apertures and align
with connectors of connector rail.
– Push ignition coils evenly onto spark plugs by hand (do not
attempt to knock in coils with any kind of tool).
– Align connector rail and plug all connectors simultaneously
onto ignition coils so that they engage.
– Install connector rail, screwing in securing bolts to specified
torque (see table of tightening torques for installation
⇒ page 55
).
Continue installation in reverse sequence. Note tightening tor‐
ques (see table of tightening torques for installation

Coolant expansion tank under pressure - risk of injuries!
♦ Only open coolant expansion tank when engine is cold.
