– Turn locking element by hand to position shown so that groove
on locking element is visible.
– Engage hook - T40207- in hole on locking element from below
and pull it off piston rod in direction of -arrow-. Repeat proce‐
dure with remaining locking elements.
– When all locking elements have been removed from vehicle:
Remove tag on interior mirror.
Note
Take care not to damage the boot or the surface coating on

the spring.
There are several versions of the locking elements for the front

axle ⇒ page 36 .
3.24.4 Suspension struts on rear axle: locking
elements (version 2)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Hook - T40207- , wrap metal rod with insulating tape to ensure
that it does not have any burrs or sharp edges.
Requirements:
• Vehicle suspension extended
Procedure:
– Push boot downwards.
– Turn two-part locking element by hand to correct position so
that groove on locking element is visible.
– Engage hook - T40207- in hole on two-part locking element
from below and pull first part of locking element off piston rod
in direction of -arrow-. Repeat procedure on second part of
locking element.
