Natural Ventilation

6.4.1. Principle of Operation

The controller controls up to 2 independent
curtains for natural ventilation.
These curtains operate according to the av-
erage temperature of their respective zone.
When temperature increases and exceeds
their Start Opening Temperature, the curtains
open according to an Opening Cycle; likewise,
they close according to a Closing Cycle when
temperature decreases below their Stop Clos-
ing Temperature.
Each curtain operates according to the aver-
age temperature reading of chosen tempera-
ture probes. Refer to section 4.7.3 to assign
these probes.
Closing the Air Inlet in Natural Ventilation —
If a lateral air inlet is used, the controller can
close it when natural ventilation curtain #1 is
suffi ciently opened. In order to close the air
inlet in natural ventilation, enable the "Close
inlet with Whisker Switch" option in the Instal-
lation setup (see sec. 4.5).
Natural Curtain in Clean Mode — The control-
ler automatically closes the natural ventilation
curtain when the clean mode is on.

2. Set the following parameters:
Initial Open at — Specify the room tempera-
ture at which the controller enters in natural
ventilation and opens the curtain for the fi rst
time. The curtain opens during the "Initial Time"
value when this temperature is reached. *This
parameter is related to the "Start Close at" setting
and ranges from 0.5 to 20.0°F (0.3 to 11.1°C) above it.
Start Close at — Set the temperature below
which the curtain closes in timer mode. This
parameter can be adjusted from 0 to 20°F (0
to 11.1°C) above the set point.

which the curtain opens in timer mode. *This
parameter is related to the "Start Close at" setting

Initial Time — Set the initial opening time of
the curtain. The curtain opens during this
time when the controller fi rst enters in natural
ventilation. This parameter can be adjusted
from 0 to 900 seconds.

Open & Close Times — Set the Open, Close
and Off time of the curtain's opening and clos-
ing cycles. Note that the Off time is common
to both cycles.
Wind Delay — When temperature decreases
below the "Start Closing" point or when it in-
creases above the "Start Opening" point, the
curtain only starts moving after the wind
delay has elapsed. This prevents the actuator
from moving when wind drafts are causing
fl eeting temperature changes. Set the wind
delay to the desired value.

Purge Move Time — The "Purge Move Time"
is the time required to de-ice or to purge the
curtain. It can be adjusted from 0 to 900 sec-
onds (refer to the following section to set all
other de-icing/purge settings).
Status — Select "Man" to select the position
of the curtain manually or select "Auto" to let
the controller control the curtain's position.
6.4.3. De-icing/Purge
The de-icing/purge principle consists in open-
ing the curtains on a short period of time to
prevent the formation of ice on their mem-
branes. This de-icing/purge function can be
enabled all the time or it can be performed
exclusively when the relative humidity is
too high. Refer to section 4.6 to choose the
activating mode for this function.
When a de-icing cycle starts, the curtain
opens during the "Purge Move Time" and re-
mains opened during the "Purge Delay". The
curtain fi nally returns to its initial position
when the "Purge Delay" is over. The next de-
icing/purge cycle takes place after the "Purge
Cycle" time.

Purge Time — Select during how much time
the curtain must remain opened in a de-icing/
purge cycle. This parameter is common to
all curtains and it can be adjusted from 5 to
900 seconds.
Purge Cycle — Select how much time sepa-
rates 2 de-icing/purge cycles. This parameter
is common to all curtains and it can be ad-
justed from 5 to 540 minutes.
