CHAPTER 2 • CONNECTING POWER AND SURGE PROTECTION
26
Connecting Power through the T-bus
The Click 200 is mounted on the T-bus, which consists of a number of small modules that
pass power and communications to any device mounted on them. For this reason, one way
to get power to a Click 200 is to provide power to the T-bus via the 5-position screw termi-
nal. (The power plant is usually mounted on the same DIN rail as the T-bus and Click 200,
or at least very near to them).
To wire DC power directly into a 5-position screw terminal (see Figure 2.7):
1
Connect +DC (the red wire from the Click 201/202) to the top screw terminal of the
5-position connector.
2
Connect –DC (the black wire) to the second screw terminal.

Note
Green T-bus connectors provide power and communication connectivity on the T-bus
backplane; gray T-bus connectors only provide power connectivity and are used to
distribute power without connecting communication. Modules with a gray T-bus
connector between them will not communicate. A module on a gray T-bus connector
will not communicate with a module to the left, but can connect to a module on the
right (if it's on green connector), as shown in the figure above.
Connecting Power through the Screw Terminals
Power from the Click 201/202 can also be connected through the screw terminals on the
PROTECTED side of the Click 200 (the side that the homerun cable is not connected to).
Because it's mounted on the T-bus, powering the Click 200 itself will also cause power to be
sent over the T-bus to all other devices needing DC power.
As shown in Figure 2.8, the last screw terminal block on the PROTECTED side of the Click
200 module contains a +DC, -DC and two surge ground connections. To wire into this block:
1
Connect +DC (the red wire from the Click 201/202) to the +DC screw terminal.
2
Connect -DC (the black wire from the Click 201/202) to the GND screw terminal next
to the +DC terminal.
