QUICK-REFERENCE GUIDE

Ensure that all necessary components are available
You will need a number of items in order to install your sensor, including but not limited to the items below:

Mount bracket and Band-It clamping system

6-conductor cable and accessory cables
˽
Click 650 or preassembled backplate

Select the mounting location
Manufacturer's recommended mount-
ing locations:
1
The near side of approach. This is
the preferred location.

On a luminaire. This location
often reduces the offset and in-
creases the mounting height.

The back side of mast arm.
4
The front side of mast arm. At
this location, 100 feet or more of
the sensor's range is used to cross
the width of the intersection.

Follow the steps below to find the target
location:

Determine mounting height (between
17 and 40 feet is recommended; typical
mounting height is about 25 feet).

Determine your offset. This is the dis-
tance from the sensor to the center of
the lanes of interest.

Use the table to the left to determine
your target distance.
Example.
If your height is 25 feet and your
offset is 10 feet, you will want to aim the
sensor 60 feet down the road.

  • Page 2 Attach the sensor and mount bracket to the pole Insert the stainless steel straps through the slots in the mount bracket, then position the mount on the pole so the mount head points toward the lanes of interest at a 45° angle. Tighten the strap screws. Align the bolts on the sensor’s backplate with the holes in the mount bracket.
  • Page 3 Traffic button to change the direction of traffic. Click OK to save your changes. Follow the steps below to automatically configure the SmartSensor Advance: Select 2. Automatic Radar Configuration from the main menu. Click the Play button. The sensor will need to detect free flowing traffic in order to finish the configuration.
