Understand the principal of closed loop control
Learn to wire a pressure transducer to the VLT Aqua Drive
Program the necessary drive parameters for basic closed loop control of a pump
Gain an understanding of closed loop P.I.D. settings
For this lab, the switch box pictured below will simulate the SCADA signals. You will use
switches S1 - S6 to apply +24 VDC to the drives digital inputs for activation. In order for the
VLT AQUA drive to run in a closed loop configuration, it must have a pressure transducer
wired directly to it. This lab is only a simulation of a pumping application, so there will be no
actual pressure. In order to simulate the pressure feedback, we will feed a 0-10 volt signal to
the drives by means of a potentiometer on the control box. The diagram below shows the
necessary wiring.
