4.7.2 Safety functions SF1 and SF2

Risk of injury due to the failure of safety-relevant electromechanical
components
Higher load of safety-relevant electromechanical
components than intended by the manufacturer may lead to increased
wear and failure. If the robot arm is not stopped due to the failure of
safety-relevant electromagnetic components, serious personal injuries
may result.
f Operator must ensure that the safety-relevant electromechanical
components in the robot control are exchanged according to the
robot manufacturer.
f With application-specific, increased wear, the integrator must
determine the service life and include in the maintenance plan
of the application.
f Moreover observe the KUKA documentation regarding the service life
of the electromagnetic components.
If the proximity switches for the triggering of the pendulum plate and
the sensor skin at the sensor head are commissioned according to
the manufacturer's specifications, the following safety functions are
regarded as having been fulfilled.

Safety function
Operator approaching the robot arm
Upon approaching the sensor skin (typical triggering distance approx.
50 mm), the safety stop 1 (with automatic restart) is triggered. As soon
as the trigger range of the sensor skin is free again, the robot system will
restart automatically.
The area at the pendulum plate and the blind plate next to the pendulum
plate are not monitored by the sensor skin.
The sensor skin requires application-specific teaching in.
The sensor skin at the sensor head must be activated via
SkinMonitoring in the SSKU.
