CHECKING THE CRANKSHAFT AND CON-
NECTING ROD
1. Measure:
D crankshaft runout
Out of specification  Replace the crank-
shaft, bearing or both.
NOTE:
Turn the crankshaft slowly.
Crankshaft runout
Less than 0.03 mm
2. Measure:
D big end side clearance
Out of specification  Replace the big end
bearing, crankshaft pin, or connecting rod.
Big end side clearance
0.40
3. Measure:
D crankshaft width
Out of specification  Replace the crank-
shaft.
Crankshaft width
67.95
4. Check:
D crankshaft sprocket 1
Damage/wear  Replace the crankshaft.
D bearing 2
Cracks/damage/wear
crankshaft.
5. Check:
D crankshaft journal
Scratches/wear  Replace the crankshaft.
D crankshaft journal oil passage
Obstruction  Blow out with compressed air.
