ADJUSTING THE VALVE CLEARANCE
The following procedure applies to all of the
valves.
NOTE:
D Valve clearance adjustment should be made
on a cold engine, at room temperature.
D When the valve clearance is to be measured or
adjusted, the piston must be at top dead center
(TDC) on the compression stroke.
1. Remove:
D rider and passenger seats
Refer to "RIDER AND PASSENGER SEATS".
D fuel tank
Refer to "FUEL TANK AND AIR FILTER".
D air filter assembly 1
Refer to "FUEL TANK AND AIR FILTER".
2. Disconnect:
D spark plug caps
3. Remove:
D spark plugs
4. Remove:
D damper 1
D frame cover 2
D silencer assembly 3
5. Remove:
D cylinder head side covers 1
(front cylinder)
D cylinder head side covers 2
(rear cylinder)
