NOTE: Diaphragm repair kits are available. See page 30
for ordering. Parts included in the kit are marked
with an asterisk, for example (12*). Use all the
parts in the kit for the best results.
NOTE: A 13/32 in. EZY–OUT screw extractor is re-
quired if you remove the bearings (29). Other
methods for removing the bearings may damage
the pump housing (5).
1. Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure Warning on
page 12.
2. Remove the nuts (15) and the grounding strip (45).
See Fig 16.
3. Remove the nuts (15), bolts (14) and v–clamps (6).

REMOVING THE DIAPHRAGM
4. Remove the nuts (37) and bolts (36) holding one cov-
er (1) to the manifolds (2), and remove the cover. It
is not necessary to disassemble the other cover from
the manifolds.
5. Using 5/8 in. socket wrenches, hold the hex (E) of
one diaphragm plate (13) while removing the oppo-
site plate (13). Pull the diaphragm and rod out of the
housing (5). Grasp the flats of the diaphragm rod (18)
and remove the remaining diaphragm plate (13). Re-
move the inner diaphragm plates (24) and dia-
phragm (12) [ Models 220–617 and 223–154 also
PTFE
have a
diaphragm (51) ].
6. Inspect the diaphragm rod (18) for wear or
scratches. If the rod is damaged, check the bearings
(29) also. Replace parts as needed.
