Details A, B, and C are cutaway views of how the
o–rings and u–cup seals fit onto the parts. Lubri-
cate the o–rings and seals with a lightweight lith-
ium–based grease before installing. Be sure the
lips of the u–cups face into the housing (104).
8. Install the u–cup seals (107 , 108 ) in the spacer
(106). Place o–rings (109 and 110) on the outside of
the spacer. See Detail B. Use a socket to press the
spacer in. Repeat for the other side.
9. Apply one drop of liquid sealant, such as Loctite
TL–242 (blue) to the threads of the valve stem (103)
and screw it into one of the pistons (102). Guide the
piston and stem assembly through the housing, and
install the other piston from the other side.

10. Install the washer (105) in the housing. Repeat for
the other side.
11. Install the o–rings (101 , 111 and 112) on the cylin-
ders (113 or 120). Press the cylinders into the hous-
ing (104). Install the retaining rings (114).
12. When installing the director valve assembly on the
pump, the two small holes near the top edge of the
gasket (20) MUST BE off center toward the left side
of the housing (5). See Fig 14. Improper installation
will prevent the pump from operating properly.
NOTE: On Pump Model 223–747, install the director
valve with the reset pin (1 18) pointing up. See
page 23.
