Ball Check Valves

NOTE: Repair kits are available for both the
Buna–N ball check valves. Parts included in the
kit are marked with three asterisks, for example,
(17***). Use all the parts in the kit for the best re-
sults. Kits to convert to stainless steel or ceramic
balls are also available. See page 30 for the kits.
NOTE: To ensure proper seating of the balls, always re-
place the guides (3) when replacing Buna–N or
PTFE
balls. Also, replace the o–rings (58) with
new ones whenever the old ones are removed.
1. Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure Warning on
page 12.
2. Remove the pump from its mounting.

3. Use a 1–1/2" socket wrench to remove the plug (26)
from the top ball check. Remove the o–ring (58),
spacer (53), ball stop (4), and ball (17). See Fig 12.
4. Turn the pump over and remove the plug (26), o–ring
(58), and spacer (53). Refer to Fig 12.
5. Insert a soft rod such as a wooden dowel (3/8" dia.
x at least 8" long) through the top ball guide (3). Press
on the ball stop (4) at the bottom ball check to push
out the ball guide (3), ball (17), o–ring (58), and ball
stop. See Fig 13.
6. Turn the pump over and insert the rod, tilting it so it
contacts the edge of the top ball guide (3), and push
out the guide and o–ring (58). See Fig 13.
7. Clean all parts and inspect for wear or damage. Re-
place parts as needed.
8. Reassemble in the reverse order, following all notes
in Fig 12.
