4.5 SEEDER POSITION

It is important to adjust the position of the planting unit correctly
on the supporting equipment when in the field.
The working depth of the machine is determined by the position
of the levelling rollers (see the Rotating Harrow Operation and
Maintenance manual).

4.5.1 ADJUSTING THE SEEDING DEPTH

To obtain a good level at which sprouts come out, the seed needs
to be placed at the right depth into the seeding bed.
The pressure of furrower and the seeding depth may be regulated
by a centralized hydraulic control (Fig. 54). During operation, the
pressure of the furrower can be increased in areas in which the
ground presents more resistance to penetration.
During operation, the pressure of the furrower can be increased
in areas in which the ground presents more resistance to
penetration.
The blocks (det. A-B, Fig. 54) are used to identify the maximum
and minimum planting pressure respectively that can be applied
on the furrowers and act as end-of-travel pieces for the hydraulic
cylinder.
You can further adjust the pressure, separately, changing the
position of the tie-rod (C, Fig. 55).
With suffolk coulters only a spring (det. E, Fig. 55) is supplied, as
an accessory, to reset the weight of each individual spring
element (D) when the spring is fully unloaded. Shallow seeding
is possible in this condition.
COREX disc coulter
With disc coulters is possible to assemble a rear rubber wheel
(Fig. 56), which allows to check the seeding depht. Thanks to a
series of holes, you can set the same seeding depht for all the
coulter elements (Fig. 56).
F) minimum depht:
G) maximum depht:
IMPORTANT: we advise against the use of the rear wheel on
moist soils.

4.6 REAR SPRING HARROW

The planting unit may be equipped with back
seed covering
harrow (Fig. 57).
Carry out installation before using the planting
unit by following the diagram at page 68.
The working pressure of the seed covering
harrow springoperated teeth can be regulated
by using the lever (A, Fig. 57). When the arm
pins on the two holes are shifted, the clearance
angle of the spring teeth varies (B, C and D,
Fig. 57).
