Reparation instructions

Replacing steering wires

Release the steering wires' rear attachment (1).

Release the steering wires' front attachment (2) at
the steering transmission chain (6) and pull the
steering wires out throught the frame.
Note. If the old wires are still complete, the new
wires can be attached to the old ones when
they are pulled out through the frame, the
new wires will then come automatically into
place.

Attach the new wires. Once the new wires are in
place, check the wire tension (see "Checking and
adjusting steering wires").

Removal/installation of steering axle

Release the steering wires' rear attachment (1).
Remove the frame plate.

Remove the steering wheel and steering column by
releasing the lock nut and unscrewing the locking
screw, lift the steering wheel and steering column
upwards.

Remove the two steering wheel rod carriers (2).

Unscrew the bolt (5) from the bottom end of the
steering column.

Pull the steering axle (6) upwards and move the
lower part of the axle backwards to remove the
steering transmission chain (3).

Move the upper bearing (7) uppwards until it goes
free from the steering axle (6). If the bearing is to
be replaced, the bushing (8) must be knocked out
of the bearing.

Slide the bearing (9) off the bottom end.

Take the steering axle out (6) downwards.

To assemble the steering axle, the reverse order is
applied. For assembly purposes, the two steering
wheel rod carriers (4), are tightened with moment
(5–10 Nm).
