Replacing the diamond grinding wheel
This sharpener is designed to provide long and trouble free ser-
vice. If the diamond grinding wheel is taking more than 50 turns
to complete a single alignment/sharpening cycle it is ready to be
replaced. Replacement abrasive discs and diamond wheels can
be purchased through DrillDoctor.com.
1. Unplug the Drill Doctor and remove the access cover and the
20° knife guide or tool guide.
2. Hold the flexible disc hub using a standard open ended 3/4"
wrench on the flats as shown.
3. Using a standard 3/8" wrench, gently loosen and remove the
wheel retaining nut by turning counter clockwise as shown
(right-hand thread).
4. Install a new grinding wheel and retaining nut then tight fin-
ger tight.
5. Using the 3/8" wrench, ensure the nut is snug by turning clock-
wise as shown. Only snug the nut (a maximum of 10 in-lbs to
tighten).
6. Remove the wrenches and reinstall the access cover and de-
sired guide.
