1. Insert the blade into the tool guide as shown (handle facing
right) with the 1st side of the blade resting on the tool guide
surface and the cutting edge resting on the edge guide sur-
face.
2. Slowly slide the blade back and forth along the tool guide sur-
face while maintaining contact with one or both of the edge
guide surfaces. Support the blade with your hands as it is
sharpened to avoid excess load on the disc or guide surfaces.
(Only light pressure is needed to properly sharpen a service-
able hatchet). Sharpen equally across the length of the 1st
side of the blade for up to 30 seconds.
3. Rotate the tool so that the 2nd side can be sharpened (han-
dle facing left). Repeat up to 30 seconds of even sharpening
on the second side. Remember to support the weight of the
blade with your hands to properly position the cutting edge
and avoid overloading the disc.
4. Repeat 2-3 times on each side of the blade until the edge is
sharpened.
TIPS:
Do not sharpen blades with loose handles or damage. Repair
or replace prior to sharpening to avoid injury. If the blade
requires more than 2 minutes of grinding per side we recom-
mend they be professionally restored or replaced.
Only sharpen tools that fit in the guide and are adequately
supported. Do not force tools that are too large into the
machine. Do not sharpen tools that are tool small to be ad-
equately supported.
