Upgrading system software

This configuration example upgrades system software from R8513 to R8514. The system software
image file name is main.ipe.

Upgrading system software from the CLI

You can use TFTP or FTP on the device to access the TFTP or FTP server to back up or download
software files.
Using TFTP to upgrade system software
1. Back up the running system software image and configuration file:
a. Display current software images and startup software images.
<Sysname> display boot-loader
Software images on slot 1:
Current software images:
cfa0:/main-cmw710-boot-R8513.bin
cfa0:/main-cmw710-system-R8513.bin
Main startup software images:
cfa0:/main-cmw710-boot-R8513.bin
cfa0:/main-cmw710-system-R8513.bin
Backup startup software images:
None
b. Back up the current software images.
<Sysname> copy main-cmw710-boot-R8513.bin boot_backup.bin
<Sysname> copy main-cmw710-system-R8513.bin system_backup.bin
