FWH(Firm w ar e Hub) Pr ote ction
The BIOS of the mainboar d is ins ide the FWH. Some severe v iruses such as CIH vir us
ar e so danger ous that it may overw r ite the BIOS of the mainboar d. If the BIOS has
been damaged, the s ys tem w ill be unable to boot. We provide the follow ing s olution
w hich pr otec ts the sy stem BIOS from being attacked by such vir uses.
Here are tw o choic es w hich implements this f unc tion.
1. Set the jumper (JAV) as closed, the BIOS can not be over w ritten.
2. Set the jumper ( JAV ) as open, meanw hile set "Flash Wr ite Protec t" as Enabled in
AWARD BIOS CMOS Setup. In this w ay, the BIOS c an not be ov erw ritten, but the
DMI information c an be updated.

Su spe nd t o RAM
Suspend to RAM is a c ost- eff ective, optimal implementation of the Adv anced Configu-
ration and Pow er Interface ( ACPI) 1.0 s pecification, w hich makes a PC's pow er con-
s umption dr op to the low es t pos sible lev el and enables quic k w akeup. When the
s ys tem is in Suspend- to-RAM s tatus, the s ys tem contex t is maintained in s ys tem
memory, the system cons umes only a s mall fr action of the pow er used for full oper a-
tion. Instead of s hutting dow n the s ystem to save pow er w hen not in us e and then
having to r eboot later, Sus pend-to-RAM solution enables the s ystem to quic kly w ake
up, r estoring all applic ations and f eatures, enabling operation in a f ew sec onds.
To implement this function, the follow ing requirments ar e es sential:
1. Pow er s upply requirements: The current of 5VSB line of the pow er supply should
be more than 0.75A.
2. The BIOS option "ACPI function" should be enabled, and "ACPI Suspend Type" should
be set as S3 in AWARD BIOS CMOS setup. Refer to page 28 for detailed information.
