Accessory recommendation
Which type of fuel is the right one?
The selection of the fuel has an impact on the performance characteristic of the engine.
However, as a matter of principle:
•
In the running-in phase, a special RC car fuel with approximately 16% nitromethane should be used.
•
After the run-in of the engine (after a mere operating time of approximately 45 minutes), you can change to a fuel with approximately 0% nitromethane.
•
For maximum output, we recommend the max. percentage of 5% nitromethane
Use fuel for RC cars only! The percentage of oil contained in fuel for RC plane engines is too small (too little lubrication), which causes
the engine to overheat, thus leading to serious damages.
The same is valid for vehicle gasoline.
Why is a tank bottle needed?
RC model car fuel is available in big bulks (canisters) only. Filling the tank by using a smaller, special tank bottle with a small, curved pouring tube is signifi-
cantly simpler. You also prevent spilling fuel (expensive and poisonous).
Are more glow plugs necessary?
Glow plugs wear, especially in the running-in phase. Therefore, we recommend having some glow plugs ready in case of need for a replacement. There are
glow plugs with different calorific values; the selection of the glow plug has a big impact on driving performance. For the running-in phase, you should use a
"hot" glow plug for high performance engines. After the running-in phase, you can use a glow plug with a middle or a "cold" calorific value.
Use glow plugs for RC cars only! A wrong glow plug, such as e.g. for 4 stroke plane engines, lets the engine run incorrectly and compli-
cates the tuning.
Replacing the glow plug
To that effect, you need an extra long plug spanner (spider wrench SW 8, 9, 10 and 1), which can be used also to unscrew the outer hexagonal screws.
Preheating the glow plug
A plug connector (long) with rechargeable battery as a unit is inserted on the glow plug and heats the latter, so that the air-fuel mix sparks off and the engine
starts. When the engine runs smoothly, the plug connector can be removed.
