Description
2.1
What is what?
1 Slide-in pockets with PCM elements
2.2
Functional description
The cooling elements made of PCM (phase change material)
are integrated in the comfort vest to absorb the body heat of
wearer.
When donning the comfort vest, the PCM is in a solid state of
aggregation. As the ambient temperature rises, the PCM
absorbs thermal energy and changes to a liquid state of
aggregation.
Depending on muscular effort and ambient temperature, the
cooling effect will last up to two hours.
2.3
Intended use
The comfort vest is a piece of clothing which reduces the body
temperature of its wearer in hot environments as well as during
physical work which causes perspiration.
2.4
Limitations on use
The comfort vest is not to be considered as personal protective
equipment. The comfort vest offers no protection against fla-
mes, stabs, blows or similar dangers to the wearer.

Use
3.1
Preparation for use
The comfort vest must be checked prior to every use:
Check if all PCM elements are there.
Check if comfort vest and PCM elements are undamaged
(see chapter 4 on page 6).
Operability check
The operability of the PCM elements is given, when the salt
crystal mixture is in a completely solid state of aggregation
and the PCM elements have an even, flat shape.
If necessary, restore operability as follows:
1. Heat the PCM elements at +32 °C up to +40 °C, until the
salt crystal mixture is entirely liquid.
2. Put the PCM elements on a horizontal, even surface,
stroke until flat and store for at least 2 hours at less than
+20 °C or at least 30 minutes at +8 °C.
The PCM elements will then have regained full operability.
NOTICE
i
i
To achieve the best possible comfort and the best prin-
ciple of operation, the comfort vest should be worn
above another thin piece of clothing (e.g. T-Shirt, un-
dershirt, function shirt, ...) which can absorb the sweat.
3.2
Use
The comfort vest must be worn close to the body to achieve a

maximum cooling effect for the wearer.
NOTICE
i
