Definitions of alert icons

The following alert icons are used in this document to indicate
and highlight areas of the associated text that require particular
attention by the user. A definition of the meaning of each icon
is as follows:
CAUTION
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. If not avoided, it
could result in injuries and damage to the product or
environment. It may also be used to alert against unsafe
practices.
NOTE
Additional information regarding the use of the product.

Typographic conventions

Text in italics indicates screen text.
Italics
This triangle is shown in warnings to indicate
possibilities for avoiding a hazard.
>
The "greater than" symbol specifies a navigation
path in a menu.

Definition of terms

Simulation
Simulation is the representation of the physically computed fire
propagation. The simulation is controlled by a simulation
configuration and physics parameters.
Simulation configuration
A simulation has a setting which is also known as the
simulation configuration. A simulation configuration is
composed of all simulation parameters and factors influencing
the simulation parameters that affect the physical computation
of fire propagation.
Simulation parameters
The simulation parameters consist of wind direction, wind
strength, population, scale, landscape, and extinguishing
measures. Depending on the setting, these have different
effects on the physical computation of the fire propagation.
Factors influencing the simulation parameters
The factors influencing the simulation parameters represent
the variable factors which are used to determine the effects of
the simulation parameters on the physical computation of the
fire propagation. These may be changed. Changes to the
factors influencing the simulation parameters are saved and
can be reset to the default values if required.
Menu
A menu consists of a list of menu items that are located in a
menu bar.
Menu item
A menu item is an entry in a menu that opens a submenu or
triggers an action.
Window
A window is an item that represents programmes and their
contents. Windows can be moved, minimised and closed.
