    Introduction Features and Functions The TPS-4000L series of touchpanels pack all the power and performance of an Isys panel in a stylish lectern or wall-mounted model. Its compact stature makes the TPS-4000L series perfect for the home or boardroom, especially in locations like home theaters, bedrooms, the home office, and podiums.

    Physical Description The 10.4 inch (26.42 cm) touch sensitive viewing screen is located on the front of the TPS-4000L touchpanel with five engraveable pushbuttons on the side. A faceplate conceals two speakers, a photosensor and a microphone. The electronic hardware is housed in a metal enclosure, with a colored faceplate as shown in the following diagram.

    Hardware Hookup The TPS-4000L can be mounted in a wall or inside a lectern. Make the necessary connections as called out in the illustration that follows this paragraph. For network wiring information, refer to “Network Wiring” on page 7 before attaching the 4-position mini-terminal block connector.

The connecting cable is not supplied. Prior to installation, use this port for direct connection between the touchpanel and a PC to load files to a touchpanel without a network connection.

  • Page 21 Both sets of inputs support both NTSC and PAL formats. Balanced video format is typically used when distributing video via CAT 5 (i.e., from a Crestron CNX-PVID8x3 or 8x4). Unbalanced video is typically used when distributing video via coaxial cable.

    Windows This section describes a sample SIMPL Windows program that includes a TPS-4000L touchpanel. A Join Number Remapping (JNR) program can be written to augment the functionality of the touchpanel by making some of the touchpanel’s internal functions available to the SIMPL Windows programmer.
  • Page 28 10.4” Lectern/Wall Mount Touchpanel C2Net-Device Slot in Configuration Manager To incorporate the TPS-4000L touchpanel into the system, drag the TPS-4000 from the Touchpanels | Touchpanels (Cresnet) folder of the Device Library and drop it in the System Views. The PRO2 system tree displays the touchpanel in slot 9 with a default Net ID of 03 as shown in the following illustration.

    Pre-recorded WAV files for voice prompts and responses are available from Crestron. These files can be stored into and programmed for use in the touchpanel directly or may be edited with the Sound Recorder. For example, the individual files can be combined to create custom messages.

    Communication Settings Connection of a PC to the TPS-4000L touchpanel can be direct via the RS-232 port on the touchpanel or through a control system (Cresnet). Both methods of connection provide setup for RS-232 communication.
